As part of International Women's Day 2015, we are celebrating successful women in our business who #MakeItHappen for CPM. Today's interview is with one of our Client Service Managers - Máire Gabbett.

What is your current role?

Client Service Manager for Suntory and GSK Healthcare

What roles have you done to get to this position?

I started with CPM 10 years ago as a Mars Sales representative; I have progressed up along the career ladder working in many different roles, across a range of clients, I moved from Sales Roles to a Management role as a Regional field manager and then up to Client Service Manager

How long have you been working in your current role?

I have been a CSM for the last 6 years, working on a variety of different accounts both in Retail and Direct Sales

What characteristics do you feel are needed to be a successful Client Service Manager?

Good organisation skills, ability to multitask, Clear communicator, good understanding of financials, good team player.

You recently came back from maternity leave after having your first child, how are you finding it?

It is great being back in the working environment even though I did love my time on maternity leave. It has been challenging in the last couple of months due to my daughter starting crèche and as many people will tell you they catch many infections. It has been hard to get the right balance and not let work down and still ensure your are doing the best for your child.  Being organised along with good time management is critical to getting tasks completed and still be able to leave  work on time

What advice would you give to young mums to help them get that work life balance right?

The key to getting the right balance is to be open with your line manager and communicate with them your needs/ family needs. I would also recommend you go to them with suggestions as to how you can balance both work and family.

Where do you see your next career move?

As I am currently working part time in order to get a good balance between work and family. I do feel my career progression will be slower than it has been in the past. But as my family get older and become more independent my career will become a higher priority and I would hope I will eventually make Client Service Director level.
